Principal's Message

Dear Garden Road Families,

We are starting our third year of the Leader in Me implementation, which is a whole school transformation model, based on the work of Steven Covey and the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. The goal of Leader in Me is to empower students with leadership and life skills they need to thrive in the 21st century. Leader in Me helps students learn how to become self-reliant, take initiative, plan ahead, set and track goals, prioritize their time, manage their emotions, resolve conflicts, find creative solutions, and live a balanced life. The process helps students develop the skills and self-confidence they need to lead their lives and succeed in school and beyond.

In addition to the Leader in Me, your children will be receiving a rigorous, engaging, and personalized elementary experience. Our teachers work collaboratively to plan instruction, based on the Common Core State Standards. We celebrate parent partnerships, so please work with your teacher on ways you can support in your child's classroom.

You are joining an incredible group of dedicated staff and parents. I encourage you to participate in any way you can. Our PTA and Foundation are doing amazing things which bolster the academic and social life on campus. Please join us for our monthly Friday Flag and awards recognitions, movie nights, All You Can Read Diner, Variety Show, Red Ribbon Week, Country Fair, Kindness Week, and much more. It is a lot of fun!

We want you to know everything that is happening on campus, so we will send out weekly newsletters and call outs. Let us know if you are not receiving this information. We also will have various events and meetings throughout the year for parents/guardians to attend and share feedback and ask questions. Your input is always valued.

It is an honor it is to be serving as the Garden Road Principal! I am so grateful to get to work with your lovely children on this beautiful campus each day. Please feel free to email me at [email protected] or call 858-748-0230 with any questions, suggestions, or comments. I am always open to suggestions on how to make our school better.

Very respectfully,
Lisa Maguire
